As a Swamper/Rigger’s you are expected to be responsible for many of the shop hand tasks but expands into the crane and field operations. Riggers will learn to tie down loads, rigging lifts, crane setup and tear down and signalling crane movements. Swampers will be expected to complete a daily truck log and job related paperwork. They will also learn to operate small pickers and mini-cranes. Mentoring by senior operators and working with all staff is a must.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Swamping/Rigging:
- Accompany Encore operators in all types of picker trucks around the city and province
- Assist operators with various types of lifts
- Assist operators with rigging and load securement
- On-call every other weekend
- Out of town work possible
- Opportunity for promotion to operating our 3 and 6 ton knuckle boom cranes
- Must adhere to Encore Trucking & Transport Ltd. safety guidelines and procedures
Shop Work:
When not on a job with an operator, you will be working in our shop and yard. Duties include:
- General shop and yard cleanup
- Ensure job hazard assessments are completed and updated
- Picking up parts and supplies from various locations around the city
- Minor mechanical and fabrication work assisting mechanics
- Operate skid-steer in yard
QUALIFICATIONS
- An ability to learn and master new challenges
- Reliability
- Can follow directions closely
- Physically fit and able to perform basic labour tasks
- Valid Class 5 license (no GDL) without serious infractions, and reliable transportation
- Previous crane experience an asset, but not required
- Must adhere to Encore Trucking & Transport Ltd.’s safety guidelines and procedures
- Drivers abstract & drug/alcohol test is a condition of employment
Compensation is based upon experience. Encore offers good wages and great benefits including RRSP.
